DRIVER & TEAM
Driver : Simon Allaway, in my mid 50's and getting older by the day, my day job is an Aircraft Structures Engineer. I enjoy every aspect of buildng and racing the car, the design, manufacture, building and tuning, the racing is the best bit.
Alison : My fantastic wife, she organises me on race days and stops me talking too much. She loves the smell of Castrol R, once owned a Ducati and a Jenson Interceptor ! she kind of makes me look like the sensible one !
Paul Greaves : Aircraft designer, ex-MG midget and Vauhall 2.0 litre powered Mini Special Saloon ..... despite trying to get out racing himself he still does his best to keep me on the track !!
Simon and Esprit
Martin and Ian
Andy keeping guard !!
Chris helping at Mallory
Martin keeping the sun off the trailer !!
My first ever race meeting ... 1985 at Cadwell Park .... Alan Davis a good mate who had the honour of being my first mechanic can just be seen leaning against my Cortina ... sadly he is no longer with us.... a true character.
I bought the car before I had anywhere to keep it !! luckily Alan's mum (Mrs D) said I could keep it in her garage for a couple of weeks .... at least 2 years later I was still there ...
A good day out at Mallory .... Mike, John, Andy, Me, Andy, Martin and Paul.
Simon, Alison and Paul at Oulton Park
Simon, David and John at Mallory Park
Paul's Mini at after his first test day at Anglesey ...
John Felstead : Professional race car mechanic...working on a variety of old F1 and Can Am race cars and an all round car nut, Owns an Impreza STi TypeR, is often seen at track days and the Nurburgring.
David Gibbon : less than half the age of the rest of us !! gets stuck in ..... and is a great help, spent many years marshaling over the years but is enjoying being involved even though it can get a bit hectic.
Andy Moreton : Keen supporter and helper for years, ran an F3 car for a while back in the 70s, has a strange affliction for fibreglass imp powered vehicles. Andy has owned a number of concours Bond 3 wheelers and Clan Crusaders.
Sadly long time mate Martin Bennett is no longer with us having sadly passed away, he was a hilarious character and he will certainly never be forgotten !
You cannot win without a good team ...
